In June 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea. On June 27, President Truman and Secretary of State Dean Ach These notes state: "The
communist invasion of South
Korea could not be let pass

said, this act was very
obviously inspired by the
Soviet Union. If we let Korea
down, the Soviets will keep
right on going and swallow
