Why did Sicily cause conflict between Rome and Carthage?

Sicily didn't mean to cause conflict, the reason the wars started was because Sicily acted as a gateway between Rome and Carthage, it acted as a conduit.

Sicily was a source of grain and they fought over it.

the tariff was created to protect industry in the northern part of the united states. industries in the north were being driven out of business by imported goods that were priced at a low rate. the goal was to protect these industries   by taxing the goods.
