Eddie Mabo was an Indigenous man who sued Australia in 1982 for Indigenous land rights. Ten years later, just after Mabo's death, the High Court of Australia
ruled in his favour. While entities owning land had no concerns, the judgement
created issues for individuals such as farmers or mining companies leasing
land from the Federal Government. Lawsuits and legislation sought to explain
