The gates of Paraíso is the name with which it is popularly known at the eastern gate of the Baptistery of Florence. It is located in front of the Cathedral of Santa María del Fiore. It is the work of the Italian sculptor and goldsmith Lorenzo Ghiberti, who started it in 1425 and finished it in 1452.
The "Gate of Paradise" is the masterpiece of Ghiberti and one of the most outstanding productions of the Renaissance. Completely golden, he was given the nickname of Paradise by Miguel Ángel Buonarroti. Its popularity in the Renaissance was considerable. The architect and painter Giorgio Vasari said of her that it was "the finest work of art ever created".
