The wars that our forefathers fought and the freedom they sought, the abolition of slavery, the reconciliations, and the victories in wars have all made America a great nation today.

The poem reminds me how important it is to remain united regardless of race, color, or creed because the strength of America lies in its diversity. The lines "And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us, but what stands before us." really touched me the most.

These lines remind me how we need to come together to face what is in front of us rather than what is between us. The time has come to fight all odds together as a one big nation.
