Part A Choose a civilization that you would like to investigate: ancient China or ancient India. Write down the name of the civilization you selected.

Part B
This part of the task requires that you identify the important information from the tutorial that has a connection to the country today. Make a research plan by identifying 4–5 basic categories to investigate. Select the categories you want to research. Some examples include geographic features, economy, leaders, religions, social structure, language, writing styles, and government.

As you select your categories, keep in mind that they should lead to connecting the ancient past with the present. For example, if you select the category of geography, you may ask these questions:

Why were waterways such as the Indus, Ganges, and Huang He Rivers important in the past? How are they important now?
Are historical or current borders the same? Are they different?
Or if you select religion, you might consider the following questions:

How important was religion in ancient civilizations?
What did people believe and practice?
How important are these religions in modern society?

Now you will begin your research. During your research, be sure to select reliable websites and collect the information needed to cite your sources. Take notes for your presentation text and look for images, movies, sound, and other media that you could include. Include any links for these resources. Create a table to fill in the information you gather while researching the civilization. An example is provided.
