Discrimination occurs on the basis of sex.

Their ideas help the country and its people to survive.

Explanation:

The military draft in America was discriminatory during WWI because in this draft no female are allowed to participate in the war which was a discrimination on the basis of sex. If all the people are equal in the society of United states of America so equal chance was given to females to participate in the war but the military draft only allowed the men which was discriminatory.

The progressives used their ideas to run the economy and the people of the country during the war because these progressives know the ways to produce goods  and services needed to people and the military during the war. Their ideas help the country and its people to survive in that harsh conditions.
