Balance between things are very important in every aspects of life. If people lying too much no one will believe that person if he or she is saying true. The people should prefer honesty over lying.

The golden mean focuses on the middle point between two extremes, but according to the suggestion of Aristotle, the middle ground is closer to one extreme than the other so we can conclude that golden mean is the balancing of two extremes i.e. honesty and lying.
