This is heavily romanticized though, as moving back to Africa is often portrayed as something great but in reality that is far away from reality. Africa, as a region, is the worst one in the world when it comes to development, and this includes every possible aspect.

Moving away from the United States and going to live in Africa means that the people that will do this automatically give up on a lot of things. The economies in Africa are generally in terrible conditions, with opportunities for a good job and good living being limited to very few people, and corruption is present on every level of society. The political situation is also terrible, with most of the politicians being dictators or very close to being classified as such, often using violence to keep things in order and violating human rights. Safety is not something that is a given in Africa, as the chances are relatively high that you will be targeted by criminals or certain groups, you may be robbed, or even lose your life, and there won't be any real investigation of the case per se, not to mention that there are internal conflicts in a lot of the countries. Education and healthcare are on a very low level, so you can say goodbye to becoming well qualified in a certain area or having good healthcare if any at all.
