The U.S. government has three different branches of the government, there is Legislative, Judicial, and Executive. Each of these branches of government has a job that creates a peaceful, organised, and productive society. So that each one does not have to much power there is a system called checks and balances to keep everything under control.
The Legislative is made up of the House Representatives and the Senate. The House of Representatives shares the responsibility for lawmaking equally with the U.S. Senate. The House was made to represent popular will and the members were to be elected directly by the people. Differently, members of the senate were appointed by the states until the Seventeenth Amendment mandated direct election of senators. Every state has at least one member of the House of Representatives.The house members each get two year terms. The requirements for eligibility are at least 25 years, and one must have a citizenship for at least seven years.
The Judicial branch of the government is the system of federal courts and judges that interprets laws made by the legislative branch, and is enforced by the executive branch. At the top of the judicial branch are nine justices of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the United States. The federal court is just below the supreme court, this court decides if cases should go to the supreme court.
The executive branch is one of the three primary parts of the United States government. This branch is responsible for carrying out and executing the nation's laws. The president of the United States is the chief of the executive branch, this also includes the vice president and the rest of the president’s cabinet. There are also fifteen executive departments and numerous federal agencies, boards, commissions and committees.
