Emiliano Zapata issued the Plan of Ayala in 1911 to state goals for the revolution. Read the passage to the right, describing some of the goals that Zapata wanted to achieve.

The passage states, We who undersign declare solemnly to end the tyranny, harsh government which oppresses us. The pueblos, villages, or citizens have the titles, to property being held by the government, will immediately enter into possession of that real estate property. The immense majority of Mexican settlements and citizens are owners of no more than the land they walk on and suffer the horrors of poverty without being able to improve their social condition in any way. Based on reading this document, were Mexican people having an easy life during this time period? Please explain your answer.
