The defendant, Domingos Fernandes Nobre, confessed that twenty years ago he went to the wilderness of

Porto Seguro, Brazil, in the company of others to search for gold, and there he practiced the customs of the

heathens, staining his legs with paint. He also confessed that sixteen years ago he was ordered to go to the

region of Paraiba, as captain of a company to bring natives as slaves downriver to be settled and, while being

there, he painted his body in the heathen way and danced and sang and played musical instruments with the

heathens in their way.

Christianity changed Latin American societies in many ways. People were preached to the mass by European evangelists, which had never been done before.

They began naming villages and cities after Catholic saints from Europe, but they soon began to acknowledge saints from the Americas, and Christianity spread swiftly. The culture became purely religious, customs changed, and religious dates began to be observed.

the wants of children today than in colonial times are very different. as well as the roles. children now have electronics such as phones, tablets, tvs, etc. back then, kids didn’t have electronics. in the colonial times, children were expected to their parents in their work. but now, children are expected to go to school.
