A "civil body politic" is a group of citizens acting together as a law making body. Do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick. Mutually - Shared feelings. Covenant- A binding agreement. Civil - Normal People. Body Politicks - Organized group of citizens.

The body politic is a medieval metaphor that likens a nation to a corporation which had serious historical repercussions throughout recent history and therefore giving the Crown – "as a legal entity today the Crown as executive is regarded as a corporation sole or aggregate" – a corporate entity.
