Germany was engaged in unrestricted submarine warfare Germany was trying to get Mexico to ally with them for war with the United States

These reasons were quite enough for Wilson to recommend war with Germany because:

American lives were at stake - Americans used ships to sail to Europe and especially Britain. By declaring unrestricted submarine warfare, Germany was putting American lives at risk as they might drown when their ship was targeted. They could also lose lives in war should Mexico have gone to war with the U.S.American territorial integrity targeted - By trying to convince Mexico to enter an alliance to go to war with the U.S., the United States was directly threatened by Germany and so had to defend herself.

In conclusion, Woodrow Wilson was quite justified in asking Congress to declare war against Germany and this was why Congress wasted no time in doing so.

President Wilson did not want to tarnish his mandate by participating in such a bloody war, but due to the danger that this war exercised in the USA, he had no choice but to enter the conflict. In that case, we can say that yes, the United States should go to war for the reasons that Wilson.

Among the various reasons that Wilson cites the unrestrained and unrestricted war that Germany was waging in the Atlantic was the strongest, since the German action led to the death of 1,198 civilians, among them 128 Americans, which moved Wilson and indignated the whole country.
