He created a powerful empire by extending Babylon's control over Mesopotamia through series of wars against neighboring city states in Mesopotamia. He was an efficient ruler. Hammurabi was the king of Babylonia which was located in the Fertile Crescent (also referred to as Mesopotamia). is law code was written around 1780 B. C.E. and was found by archeologists in 1901 C.
