how is a civic action such as voting different from serving on a jury?

Voting is putting what YOU personally want. (e.g. what icecream to get, or more popular, who you want as president.) Serving in a Jury is different however. When in a Jury, it's not so much your opinion, but listening to who's right and who's wrong, or whatever the case happens to be. (e.g. it's a murder case - you have to decide whether or not the suspect is guilty or not. If he really is innocent [ maybe he was framed etc. ] then you can't just say he's guilty because you want to, or that's your 'opinion.' It may be your opinion, but if it's proven otherwise in court, you and the other jury members have to say what is true. [The suspect is then declared not guilty]. So, in a nut shell, voting and serving in a jury differ because while voting you can say what you want personally, but while serving in jury, you have to say what you think based on things proven in court - not just what YOU think. Hope this helps!
