These are the opinions of some individuals on the annexation of a new territory to the United States in the early 1840s. Speaker A: The acquisition of this territory will improve the southern economy and expand cotton production in the United States. There is no reason to avoid it!
Speaker B: Annexing this land will lead to sectional divisions and further arguments about whether slavery should be allowed. While we would gain a state, we’d also gain more problems.
Speaker C: To see the cotton industry expand into this new state would mean also watching the evil of slavery expand. All abolitionists must be against it!
Speaker D: Not only does adding this new territory upset the balance of power between slave and free states, it adds an immense amount of land and population to the South. The North would never again have the upper hand.

To which area of land are the speakers referring to?

a Texas
b Oregon
c Arizona
d California

On a map showing the employment density of an urban area that follows the urban realms model, which of following statements best describes what the distribution of jobs might look like? (3 points) jobs closely follow major transit routes. jobs appear to be shifting from the inner to outer core. most jobs are concentrated around the central business district. jobs are distributed roughly in circles. several edge cities contain high numbers of jobs. which of these is not a criticism of the concentric zone model? (3 points) it does not accurately describe cities after the rise of suburban development. it only applies to cities that grew after the development of the automobile. it fails to address the development of cities outside of the united states. it assumes that inner-city areas will always be repurposed instead of abandoned. it places too much importance on the traditional central business district.
