The Virginia Plan:
Proposed having two houses to the federal government (Bi-Cameral)
Houses would be called the Senate and the House of Representatives
Both houses would be made up of delegates from each state, and the more people from each state meant the
more delegates that state had (population-weighted representation)
This plan clearly favored the larger states
The New Jersey Plan:
Proposed One House (Unicameral)
Basically they wanted to keep the Articles of Confederation but give the Legislative Body a little bit more power.
Each state would have equal representation (1 vote per state)
Favored by small states
Directions: Put yourself in the shoes of a delegate at the Constitutional Convention. You want to make sure that the interests of
your state are protected, but you also want to make sure that the entire country becomes a better place for everyone to live in.
WHAT SOLUTION WOULD YOU PROPOSE TO THE TWO DIFFERING PLANS LISTED ABOVE?
