How does Aristotle use the concept of MEAN, and why is it important to him?

Aristotle's The Doctrine of the Mean is defined as: “virtue, then, is a state of character concerned with choice, lying in a mean, i.e. the mean relative to us, this being determined by rational principle, and by that principle by which the man of practical wisdom would determine it.”

i receive this honor with deep gratitude and great humility. it is an award that speaks to our highest aspirations — that for all the cruelty and hardship of our world, we are not mere prisoners of fate. our actions matter, and can bend history in the direction of justice.
