HELP!! 7) Imagine that you are a world-renowned British writer in the late 19th century. Two
groups have approached you, each asking you to write a letter to the sultan, the head of
the Ottoman Empire. One group wants you to convince the sultan that he should begin
pushing the empire toward industrialization. The other group wants just the opposite to
convince the sultan to continue resisting the influence of the Industrial Revolution.

Since both groups are paying well, you decide to help both! Write two short letters to the
leader of the Ottoman Empire. The first should provide convincing evidence that his
country would benefit from industrialization. The other should warn him of the harm
that will come to the Ottoman Empire if he decides to industrialize. The advice in each
letter should be supported by evidence from the course.
