As in previous wars, there was a military draft during the Vietnam War. The Selective Service Act drafted men aged 18-26. Many argued that the draft unfairly affected the poorer classes. This is partially due to the existence of college deferments. A college deferment is when your enlistment was basically postponed if you were going to college.
