Economy wise, it was so difficult to procure goods through trade and to produce them, so the price on goods locally and those imported, skyrocketed. Due to illness and death, workers became exceedingly scarce, even peasants felt the effect of the new rise in wages. Serfs were no longer bound to one master; If one left the land, another lord would hire them.
