How long did it take Lin Manuel Miranda to write Hamilton ?

After reading Ron Cheron's book based on Hamilton on vacation, It took him 7 years to write the Broadway musical Hamilton!

Fun Fact: It took him 2 years just to write the opening number "Alexander Hamilton" since that song is basically explaining the beginning of Alexander's life.
