The media, through their reporting, place ideas in citizens’ minds and these ideas become part of the readers’ frame of reference and affect how they perceive the historical event.

Explanation: Given that an average individual depends on media coverage to stay informed about events; both historical and recent, what the media portrays form the basis of perception of many individuals and how they react to the event covered.

The media frame discussions, choose pictures and information to support their stories, which most times do not reflect the full story. This is especially common when there is media bias on the issue or event. This bias may involve using loaded language which are words that imply a judgement and is used to persuade a reader without having made a serious argument or selective attention which involves paying attention only to those aspects of the events with which the particular media outlet already agrees.

All these form how a historical event is remembered and/or perceived by the reader.
