8. Why did Alexander's generals failed to create democratic states in their newly established
empires?

In the first place, Alexander was an emperor, not a democratic president nor sort of democratic leader. Besides, the democracy that had existed in Athens and in some city-states was not like our contemporary democracies, though they were more open and fairer than autocracies. After Alexander´s death, the divisions and ambitions of his generals led to the disintegration of the empire. Creating democracies was never their objective. Despite the Hellenistic culture of the Macedonians,  we should take into consideration the fact that large populations  of the empire and of the new kingdoms were not culturally and ethnically Greek. Tyranny and  absolute autocracy  was the norm of the ancient world, not Athenian-like democracy.
