In the 1920s, flappers challenged traditional social norms. Think of a trend or development in our modern age that challenges traditional ideas. Explain how it is similar and different from flappers of the 1920s.

During the 1920s flappers were known as young women who encouraged a freer lifestyle. They did things such as pushing barriers in economic, political, and sexual freedom for women. I feel like some of these characteristics can be seen throughout history, including in our modern-day society. An example of this can be the typical perception of women's jobs. In the past, it was typical for a woman to be a stay at home mom. This includes doing all of the cleaning, cooking, etcetera. In more recent years, we can now see a woman working in all kinds of fields, some of which includes roles that men would usually do. Not only that, women had to fight for the right to vote. Even when they did vote, they decided to vote for the same candidate their significant other did. Nowadays, women are more vocal in politics whether it is educating people about what is happening or having different views than people close to them if that makes sense. Overall, you can see some clear similarities and differences between traditional social norms between flappers and current challenges. Both of them wanted a free lifestyle. They fought for what they wanted and broke barriers that many people would not expect. They are also different in some ways. Flappers were content in speakeasies and "partying" while people now focus more on extreme issues that can make or break the way our world runs.
