Five years later the name changed  to the American Federation of Labor, where women were accepted. The Knights and AFL both sought to raise women's pay, and make them equal to men.

The Knights disappeared by the end of the 19c because they were loosely organized and not very centralized. They sought vague goals and were unable to stay in competition.
