A group of Farmers -former soldiers that fought in the Revolutionary War- led by Daniel Shay, started a series of violent aggressions and attacks to public buildings and Courthouses in Massachusetts in August 1787. They demanded better treatment and compensation from the government and protested against the heavy taxation. The government realized that it had no strong army to confront the rebellion because, under the Articles of Confederation, the central government was weak and couldn't collect money.
