How was human sacrafice related to war, to market, to slavery, and to religious belief and practice

Aztec people believed that sacrificing human beings repaid their debts and appease the gods. People also offered maguey thorns after tainting them with blood from their own body parts as self-sacrifice. There were people chosen for sacrifice purposes and the rituals were performed at a particular time.  

Another notable sacrifice was through the Flower Wars; a battle fought to appease the gods due to the number of dead victims. The battle resulted after famines and droughts and the sacrifice was meant to honor the gods.

wood carving remains today the primary sculptural art form of the sub saharan continent. african art history shows the earliest wooden sculptures from the 17th c are attributed to the kuba, central zaire but the earliest surviving sub-saharan sculpture is a zoomorphic head found in 1928 in central angola.
