The Selective Act that was introduced in 1917 made it so the government could recruit people for future military deployment in WWI. This was brought with a draft that all males 21-30 had to sign up for war. This played a big role in the war, and with high patriotism through WWI, it had a huge success rate and ultimately succeeded. As for volunteers, women back home helped make uniforms for the military men, along with weapons and drew patriotism back home. Some women were often tending to the wounded that were brought back and needed medical attention.
