A series of revolutions in the 1810s led to independence for nation in Latin America. A revolution wave known as the Latin America wars of independence occured during the late 18th and early 19th centuries leading to the creation of numerous independent countries in Latin America. These revolutions took place after the American and French revolutions that impacted on the French, British, Spanish and Portugues colonies in the Americas.
