The creation of a Jewish homeland, or rather the country of Israel, had devastating effects on the Palestinians that were living in the region. Large number of Jewish people moved in this area in very short period of time, thus quickly changing the demographics and becoming the majority of the population. That was not seen fondly by the Palestinians, so they opposed the Jews. That can be seen as a big mistake, as the Palestinians could have chosen a different tactic and collaborate with the Jewish people, thus to be able to create a peaceful nation together, but it went the other way around. The Jewish people responded to the Palestinians the same way, just that they had military superiority and managed to make a bigger damage to them. The country got divided, with areas where only Jewish people live, and areas where only Palestinians live. The conflicts have continued ever since, especially with the terrorist organization Hamas in charge of the Palestinians, thus having violent clashes and attacks from both sides and lot of innocent people ending up dead or injured in the process.
