Industrial:

An Industry, more as a business aspect.

Agrarian:

A land for farming, or agriculture. You would see an Agrarian mostly in the country side of the U.S.

The reason why 1. Industrial and 2. Agrarian would be your answer is because the North side of the U.S was mostly industrial, while the South side of the U.S was more of agriculture.

The North:

The North became very advanced because of the Industrial Revolution, and became modernized. The North had many equipment and knowledge in building, which helped them build buildings and so for families, businesses, etc. Manufacturing and things like that were a popular occupation in the North. The North had many job opportunities because of the amount of factories that were there, but the work load and hours were very rough for the workers. People the the North dreamed of having their own factory and owning their own business so they make make things, and then make profit off of it. Because of the steam engine and other motorized vehicles, it made a HUGE increase in population in the North.

The South:

In the other hand, the South really depended on agriculture, and slavery was mostly in the South due to the amount of cotton farms. The southerners couldn't get some supplies they needed, so they had to depend on other foreign countries that they trade their cotton with. Mostly everything in the south was cultivation, and nothing else. People in the South dreamed of having their own plantations so that they could grow things and make profit off of it. Many people in the South knew how to hold a rifle, and ride a house, which most of the people in the North didn't know how to do. To sum it all up, the South depended on growing things, since the most they had was farm land, so they had to utilize it.
