Which best describes the difference between socialism and communism?

Socialism states that all of the production, distribution, and exchange should be owned by the whole society as a whole and shows that everyone is working and getting their hard work payed back. On the other hand, Communism shows that war leads a society whereas all public property is owned by all based upon their needs and abilities.
