What are the characteristics of the old stone age?

The stone age is divided into 3 periods and the longest is the Paleolithic age. It lasted till around 10,000 B.C. Besides making tools and weapons, the early humans who lived in period had many other important accomplishments. They learned to control and use fire; they made artificial shelters from branches; and they used needles to sew animal skins together. In addition, they had ritual barriers of their dead.
