In the years immediately following the civil war, the south

1) had to rebuild their economy and properties.

2) Refused to rejoin the Union

3) still had resistance however, not the whole state was part of it, (bands of leftover Confederate soldiers)

4) created the KKK (Ku Klux Klan)
