Indentured servitude was a type of servitude where the immigrants from Europe would be contracted to work in exchange for their employers to pay their passage to the Americas. The employers also provided subsistence to the servants but did not pay any wage.  This was similar to slavery but it was not slavery. They still had their liberty, despite the fact they had worked for a long time until they were able to pay all their debts. With time, conditions in Europe were better after several wars European countries went through, with that they were able to find better jobs in Europe and did not need to go to America.
