What caused workers to go on strike in the late 1800s

Companies began to grew larger, leaving two problems: Low wages and/or unsafe working. With these set along, they began to quit work to find work elsewhere with low wages and more unsafe work. The people of the work began to grow tired of hard work and was demanding to get paid more or leave work altogether.
