How did the headright system benefit both planters and colonial leaders?

The head-right system provided colonial leaders with an opportunity to populate the new colonies with settlers and laborers, thus returning it to profitability. As gold and silver was not as much. To the plantation farmers, it was an opportunity to get free land,and import laborers as well.
