Sugar was most widely produced in this area and was exported to america and rest of the Europe. The plantation was a heavy task to be performed, the workers from within this area used to ask for increased wages and the climatic conditions for them were unbearable due to which most of them used to quit work. The white owners decided to import slaves from Africa because they were not only used to the climate condition which was same in Africa as in here but were cost efficient and were agreed to work of lower wages.
