What was the role of women as industry increased

Industrial Revolution affected women more than they could have imagined. Before this event women usually were tasked with traditional jobs, such as making and repairing clothing, helping the management of the farm, and of course raising children.

As the Industrial Revolution started taking place some of their jobs were replaced by machines. For example, clothes weren't sewed anymore by hand: they were mass produced in factories. As a result, women had to enter the workforce in places like textile mills and coal mines to help support their families. Even some factory owners preferred to hire women because they would pay them less than men, there were jobs that were viewed as jobs women should do, and they were less likely to argue or object about doing something in fear of losing their job.
