There are many issues involved with binge eating disorder. Binge eating disorder is a severe and life-threatening psychological disorder that causes eating disturbances. The first thing to understand about eating disorders firstly, is that it's not about food. Eating disorder have been studied for decades now, and scientists have learned that Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse are very similar. The same parts of the brain are stimulated during engaging in an eating disorder behavior compared to abusing a substance. This is why in Eating Disorder treatment programs also use the AA's and NA's 12-step program.

The physical health issues that come along with Binge Eating Disorder are Obesity, Gastrointestinal problems like constipation, diarrhea, vomiting (not purging, this is due to an excessive amount of food being consumed at once, and the vomiting is not voluntary as it is in Bulimia Nervosa), and lethargy.
