Epinephrine is a stress hormone that makes up a large and important part of the "Fight or Flight" response. Epinephrine acts by attempting to increase the energy and oxygen to core areas of the body so as to allow a fight or flight response. Epinephrine is excreted by the Adrenal Glands which are situated above the kidneys, and are directed to do so by the Sympathetic Nervous System. Epinephrine increases Bronchodilation, Increased Blood Pressure and Heart rate, Constriction of blood vessels, etc... Epinephrine is commonly used in emergency medicine for this reason, used to treat shock and is the primary drug used for anaphylaxis.
