The endocrine system is all about communication. There are two main communication pathways in your body: the nervous system and the endocrine system. In the nervous system, signals travel extremely fast and lead to immediate responses. In the endocrine system, chemicals travel slowly through your body, and the response to these chemicals can be delayed and/or long lasting. Instructions– Create an analogy describing how 3-4 components of the endocrine system communicate with each other and function effectively. For your analogy, be sure to identify the main glands of the endocrine system and describe their function and explain how control mechanisms of the nervous system regulate endocrine secretion(s).
