Lagging vaccination rates for nursing home workers have been linked to an increase in infections and deaths in advanced facilities across the country, and are at the center of a federal investigation into how many workers in hard-hit Colorado were not vaccinated, according to disease detectives. Government data highlights the potential vulnerability, with huge state variations in nursing home vaccinations. Vermont has fully vaccinated 95 percent of nursing home residents, but in Nevada, the figure is 61 percent. Hawaii is the leader in employee vaccinations, with 84 percent fully vaccinated. But in Louisiana, it was only half, or 42 percent. When can the government take effective measures to solve all this?
