Herbal medicines are used less than they were in the past. In this time doctors and scientists have made many medicines that contain other ingredients proven to help the body more effectively and efficiently. Advantages of using herbal medicines consist of not being at risk of any toxins from harsh chemicals damaging your body. Another advantage is that they are natural and the consumer knows what they are putting into their body. Disadvantages are that sometimes natural medicines can be ineffective. They might soothe any pain or discomfort after ingesting it, but they will not make the same effect as medicines created by professionals. Another disadvantage is that the herbal medicines may cause an allergic reaction to the consumer which can result in making the discomfort worse. Altogether, herbal medicines are probably not the best choice when it comes to taking medicine, but some people just prefer to go natural when ingesting products into their body.
