Is it normal for parents/a parent to scream at, yell at, and "pop" (not a hit with a fist, but a light slap that leaves no marks or anything. just hurts like h3ll) their child when they don't get a school assignment done in time?

It depends there are 2 types of punishments parents use verbal and physical in my opinion I think physical punishments should not be used as a discipline action ! But I can see why other people think it's ok .

Ultimately, while it is 'normal' it's wrong and if you do decide to have children, remember that physical discipline should be something you never resort to.
