When you have a sick patient, why is gram staining identification important?

When u go to the doctor, he will do gram staining on ya because the technique he uses helps him to see two groups of bacteria. The groups are then labeled Gram positive and Gram negative. Then, the doc can know what's wrong, if ur ill and HOW ill. That's why gram staining is important.
