Why might you take notes when a customer is filing a complaint?

If a customer files a complaint, then they are looking for some action to be taken. By taking notes, you are showing that you are concerned about the customer’s opinion and that you are taking it seriously enough to make a record. It also shows the customer that you are going to remember the details of the exchange.
