Assignment Directions: The Jones family has been facing problems. Mr. Jones lost his job and has been unable to find another one. The job loss has caused his family to lose their health insurance coverage. Mrs. Jones is working double shifts at her job to pay their bills, but they have still fallen behind. The Joneses have three small children and live far away from family members. They only recently moved to the area and have not made many friends. Mr. Jones finds it difficult to search for a job while also taking care of their children. One night, after he had been drinking alcohol, Mr. Jones yelled at the children and lost his temper. A neighbor overheard him and called Child Welfare Services to let them know of his/her concern. Determine the family challenges and appropriate advocacy strategies needed to help the family. Write a 400-500 word response describing the challenges and advocacy strategies. What are the challenges that the family faces? Why might they face these challenges? What advocacy strategies are required to protect the children and help the family? What does it take to be a great social worker? What would you do as the social worker in this situation?
